Want Some?

I just love these Pure Innocence stamps... too cute! This one is called "Make Mine a Double." I wasn't sure which sentiment to use, so I just left it blank for now.

This card uses the sketch from Flourishes (FTTC72) with the color scheme from the City Crafter Challenge Blog (CCB10), which was to use Pink, Purple and Pearls.

Instead of using patterned paper for the background, I decided to use 1-3/4" pink organdy ribbon. Using real lace is one of my favorite things to add to cards... I found this one in my lace ribbon stash (I think it was from Joann's). The crinkled ribbon is from an etsy shop that I forgot the name of. To make the ice cream, hair clip and sash sparkle, I used Stickles (Icicles).

That's it for now.  I hope you have a great day and thanks so much for stopping by, I always appreciate it!

Music is the Key

First, I want to congratulate my little girl who's graduating from high school tonight!  I'm so very proud of her! She's always wanted to be a graphic designer, so that's what she'll be studying in college. She's quite talented in the Arts Department.  Her drawings are absolutely stunning and beautiful! Anyway, have I mentioned how proud I am of her?

OK, I really didn't know what to put as a title for this card, but "Music is the Key" (get it? sheet music, keys?) that's what popped into my mind. This entire card is really just an experiment and I'm not crazy about how it turned out, but I wanted to show you a couple of things that you might want to try.

I've been wanting to use sheet music in my cards for quite a while now, but never got around to buying some. I did the next best thing, I printed one out! I googled sheet music and found several free classical music. Usually the photos are in a .gif or .tiff file and it wouldn't let me save it in .jpg, but .pdf worked just fine. You save a lot doing it this way.

For the flower, I've started making my own out of fabric and this is actually my first attempt with organza and tulle.  Why a "black" flower? It was the music notes that inspired me to make it black. I recently purchased the Sizzix die for flowers and found that it cut the fabric with no problem. Just layer about five or six petals and attach all pieces in the center.

So those are the two things I wanted to show you... very inexpensive and well worth the try.

I used two challenges for this card:
The sketch is from Mojo Monday.
Sheet Music is from CIty Crafter.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  Remember, Saturday I will be announcing the winners to receive the new templates that were released on Monday.  You'll want to visit the rest of the designers to see who their winners are.  You have until Friday midnight to write a comment.

Hey Cupcake!

The Release Continues! Here is the second set I'm releasing this month and PARTY is still the theme! Like with the Tea Time Set, the Cupcake Card and Box Set also comes with a shaped card and matching favor box. It comes with two "toppings"... cherry on top or candle for a birthday.

For this felt set, I went with the cherry on top template and added a piece of knotted hemp for the stem. After cutting the template out with my Cricut machine (don't worry, if you don't have a cutting machine, scissors will do), it took only five minutes to attach the felt and dot the icing with white dimensional paint.

NOTE: if using liquid pearl or dimensional paints, be careful not to drop the box on the carpet. There were little white dots on our dark carpet and trying to wipe it off just smeared it. Not only the carpet was smeared, but if I turned this felt box around, you'll see a disaster!

Here's another card I made using beads to decorate the swirled icing. The cherry stem on this one is made from a 1-1/2" piece of wire.

From my list of comments, I'll be giving away BOTH sets to one lucky winner.  Each of the designers will announce their winner some time Saturday, the 19th.

By the way, another way to win one of these sets is by playing the 3D Tuesday Challenge on Paper Craft Planet. There is also a free template and tutorial of the project if you play along (see previous post).

3D Tuesday Challenge with Prize!

If you're wondering why I call this project a "Z-Box Bag," it's because I used a template I call "Z-Box." Simple as that. OK, I'm hosting the 3-D Tuesday Challenge at Paper Craft Planet this week and the challenge is to make a Summer Looking Bag.  You can use any patterns you want or you can use mine (I've included the tutorial, template and cut file).

Several years ago, I bought both of my daughters a bag similar to this one for their Summer vacation. It was just the right size for the plane ride. So, this bag was inspired by those bags my girls used for a few of their Summers.

I've added a PRIZE for the lucky winner of this 3D challenge... they will receive one of my new June release template sets!  I have the Tea Time Set or the Cupcake Card and Box Set to give away. Just upload your photo to PCP and use the tag 3d66.  You'll have until next Monday to enter. Can't wait to see what all of you make!!!

SUPPLIES
Template: "Z-Box" (template and tutorial located in the 3D Challenge Group on PCP)
Paper: SU DSP
Acc: Nestabilities Scalloped Oval, Brads, Flower Punch (SU!), 1/4" Circle Punch, White Grosgrain Ribbon

Tea Time Set - New Release!

Welcome to my first Release! Because I not only have two new sets to release this week, I want to celebrate because I have a new design team with such talented ladies! You can read all about them here.
LET'S CELEBRATE!
The designers will each be giving away one of the new sets, so you'll have lots of chances to win! What do you have to do? Just leave each of us a comment and on Saturday, June 19, we will announce the winners. As a bonus, one lucky person who leaves a comment on my blog will receive both sets for FREE!

It seems that my new sets have a theme in common: PARTY!  For instance, this set that I want to share with you today comes with a shaped card (perfect for invitations or thank you notecards for after the party) and an adorable tea pot (which would look fabulous on the party table whether you have filled with goodies or not!). With this set, you can go elegant or casual... it all depends on what you're looking for!

As you can see in the photo, the tea pot opens to easily access goodies or little gifts that you might want to put inside it. With tea parties being so popular with children as well as ladies, this tea pot would make a beautiful addition to the decor! The fun part, of course, is deciding on the theme and how you plan on decorating it!

The tea cup card holds a "tea bag" which you can use for sentiments or as a small gift tag. I added a slit on the rim to make it look like the bag is actually inside the cup. I don't have a picture here, but the card opens up by lifting the tea cup off the saucer.
Dimensions
Tea Pot: 6-3/4" x 4-7/8" x 1-5/8"
Tea Cup: 3-1/2" x 4-1/8" (closed)

The one I used here is called Better Get Better from Pure Innocence. Isn't she so sweet?

For the layout of the card, I used the sketch challenge from Our Creative Corner OCCSC19.
